Illuminate Skin Care originated from the need for me to become more informed about what I was putting on my skin.  

What I found was that the skincare industry does not enforce strict regulations around the ingredients in skin care products.  

When I began researching some of the products, many were not really natural and the percentage of organic ingredients that need to actually be in the product to call itself organic is not 100% but 95% according to the USDA.  The label can state “made with organic ingredients” if it contains 70% organic ingredients. 

So, I decided the only way to actually know what was in my skin care products was to make my own.  

My passion for taking care of my skin and being able to offer a quality product to all of you has proven to be really exciting for me.  

I have learned and continue to learn so much about plant based products and the benefits that they offer our skin.  

I am working exclusively with a Women owned, family run company for all of my essential oils.  All of the ingredients that I am using to formulate my products are from companies that are non-gmo, gluten free, cruelty free, certified organic and use sustainable business practices.  

I Offer a complete skin care regimen including a double cleansing system, toner, facial oil & Moisturizer. I will also be launching a facial scrub/mask.

Starting with the double cleansing method.  I have created a facial cleansing oil that is used to remove makeup and gently cleanse.  The second step to cleanse your face is an activated charcoal soap, which is provided by my friend Emily from Crooked Pine.  This soap will create a foam that cleanses deep into your pores leaving your skin truly clean.  I recommend using this two part system at night.  I recommend using only the facial oil cleanser in the morning.  

Next up, your facial toner.  The toner can be used as a spritz on your face to level out the pH of your skin.  It can also be used by spraying it on a cotton ball and using it to rid your face of any traces of makeup or dirt.  

Facial Oil is your next step and is available in three formulas to fit your skincare needs.  I begin with a carrier oil and build with additional plant based and essential oils. 

Facial Moisturizer is your final step. This moisturizer has a butter like texture. You will use the spatula to grab a pea size amount, rub between your fingers and smooth on to your face. The formulation will feel slightly greasy when applying but your skin will drink in the goodness within a few minutes. Allow it to soak in for a few minutes prior to applying makeup. Your skin will feel silky smooth, hydrated and will not clog your pores. This formulation contains, shea butter, kokum butter, rosehip seed oil and amazing essential oils of Geranium & Neroli.

Additional products include Moisture Boost Serum and Blue Tansy Moisturizer.

I suggest this regimen morning and night. You can rotate some of the steps to just use am or pm depending on how your skin reacts to the products. The charcoal soap maybe used am or pm only or every other day. If the moisturizer is too heavy for you am and pm, you can use only in the pm. Make it work for you. No rules - just great skin!!!

I also love using the gua sha stone along with the facial oil a couple of times a week to give you even more benefit from the oil and additionally from the minerals contained in the stone.  

What is a Gua Sha ?

This stone has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years and is said to have been created from a cosmic collision in ancient China.  The story states that a meteor struck the side of a mountain and resulted in a blast which created this special combination of stone and minerals.  It is said to emit ultrasound pulsations and negative ions which are known for antioxidants and anti-aging effects on our cells. It contains 40 minerals known to benefit our health and balance our energy.
